Farrow Golf Design LLC was established in 2014 by Ryan Farrow in order to  provide clients with golf course design and shaping services that are forged with exceptional quality and emphasize fine detail work and hand craftsmanship. The foundation of our company is based on an unrelenting passion and respect for classic golf course architecture.

Ryan Farrow has worked for some of the game’s greatest modern architects including Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw, Tom Doak, and Gil Hanse. Since entering the golf industry over 15 years ago, Ryan has participated in the construction of many highly regarded golf courses, these include: Oakmont Country Club, Merion Golf Club, Southern Hills, Sand Valley, The Sheep Ranch At Bandon Dunes, Rock Creek Cattle Company, Pinehurst #4 and Mission Hills Golf Resort in China. At 26 years of age, Ryan Farrow completed his first golf course design (as a Lead Designer with Schmidt-Curley) in the sand dunes of the Gobi Desert. Dalu Dunes was China's first, true inland links and featured on the cover of Golf Course Architecture Magazine in 2014.

Design Philosophy

A golf course must have its own identity, fit the environment, embrace the lay of the land and provide fun, thought provoking strategies. It must include the community and enhance the neighboring ecology. The routing should ebb and flow throughout the round, holes should challenge, let you breathe, and ask for heroism. We do not desire “championship” length or tired “standards of par” but wish for every club in a golfer’s bag to be played. We believe in more par 3’s and less par 5’s. More width, less rough, less time searching for golf balls and more time enjoying the game with friends on the courses we all play.

Golf Course Design

While we understand a great golf course cannot be designed solely on the computer, the usefulness of quantifying takeoffs, calculating cut/fill numbers, and the importance of securing environmental permits are qualities of detailed plans that should not be undervalued. We provide our clients with a full range of CAD based technical plan documents including grading, landscape, and conceptual drainage plans. Ryan prefers to use construction plans as a general outline to move projects forward while letting the design take shape in the field.
